(..well, at least for me.)
It’s a brand new stuff in my UP running routine.
We tried running this route (first time for me! ) last Saturday –>

It’s a certified ‘winner’ route, but for sure not anything new to other frequent UP campus runners who one day in their lives got some tummyache due to UP-Acad-oval-overdose, so off they went exploring the outer streets in UP.
This 7km route takes you to the outer borders of the UP campus, going out to C.P. Garcia (that connects Philcoa and Katips) passing by the mysterious and now-bigger Math kingdom (Hi, my ex-college!), back inward to pass by the Executive House and UPDP office, then along the U Ave. stretch.. (I should stop this. You may check the map above. As I always say, pictures give better blah-blahs.)
Oh, one more interesting note - it passes by the famous HeartBreak hill. And I went crazy and egged on my running buddies to race me on the uphill. Only one obliged. And even outran me. Hahaha.
I hope the Heartbreak hill portion becomes a staple part of the route for UP races. Or.. I’m also thinking Not..

Where exactly is the heartbreak hill sa UP?
Hi Grey! Naughty me wants to scream ‘Secret!’, but alright, I’ll speak up. In between Bahay ng Alumni and Molave dorm, take that road and go straight up til Meralco Diliman Substation (it’s in the map) then turn right, you’ll find the heartbreak hill there. It’s a good 200m downhill followed by a roughly 150m pretty steep uphill. Warning: Plenty of doggies
Good luck!

mel
Hey Mel, I’m glad to know UP is a fave running place for you. For me, it’s a LOGICAL fave, since I live soo nearby lang. Yup, see you around, and you take care of calling my attention if and when okay! (I’m no snob, at least I think so hehe)

This is similar to the route used by the UP Mountaineers for the 7.5 diagnostic runs. A nice route to take when you’re bored with the usual 6.6km academic oval fare.
Enjoy.
Ninoy
Hi Ninoy. That got me thinking, and so I think Yes, it should be the same. The one who drew up the route for us had, I think, trained with you guys before, hehe. Now that explains it.

Hey Cath thanks for posting! Given that UP may be my new school in a couple of months, I may need to get myself acquainted with the running routes around it.
Long time no see hoffness, when you going to run a race again?
Cheers,
Luis
“UP may be my new school in a couple of months” – Wow, you’ll be in a back-to-school drama too Luis?.. Man, you’ll find UP a haven for runners. Ohno, the bias in me, almost forgot you’ll be there for Acad purpose, hahaha.
Yup, it’s been sometime na nga. Was eyeing on Botak but I got news that the 10-miler will be resched. Might do GIG instead. See you soon GBR
